As dentistry makes a trasition into digital impressions via a modem to the lab and then into CAD/CAM Zirconia systems, the days of traditional impression taking are ending. The result is a superior restoration that will actually simplify all-ceramic needs. With a new electronic technologies added to the mix (replacing 80 years of laboratory formats), the next era of fixed prosthodontics is being ushered in. In this course, clinical cases will be presented to show participants how simple such transitions can be.

The following will also be covered:

  • Advantages of digital impressions over traditional impressions.
  • The advantages and greater versatility of zirconia restorations over all-ceramics.
  • The "electronic prescription" — a step-by-step approach to greater communication with your lab, for superior custom restorations.
  • New patient communication tools that are much better than writing on a bracket table.

Dr. Lou Graham, who is extensively involved in lecturing and continuing education, focuses on incorporating new clinical advancements through "conservative dentistry." He is co-founder of Dental Team Concepts, a continuing education company whose philosophy and programs use contemporary and interactive formats to integrate proven conservative dentistry with the latest materials and techniques. Dr. Graham approaches dentistry with a progressive yet conservative methodology.

In his courses, Dr. Graham emphasizes diagnosis, evidence-based treatment, adhesion and cosmetic dentistry, dental materials, customized approaches to periodontal care, laser dentistry and implants. He lectures domestically and internationally, and he is published in many dental journals. He is a graduate of Emory Dental School, and he is in private practice in Chicago. He holds a part-time faculty position at the University of Chicago.
